CNN is reportedly preparing to lay off “hundreds” of employees in the early days President Trump second administration.

Puck said CNN CEO Mark Thompson will inform his staff of the network cuts Thursday morning, while CNBC said the layoffs “will not affect CNN's most recognizable names under contract,” according to sources.

CNN did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Fox News Digital previously reported in November that CNN would face major layoffs by March and that the impact on the network would be “significant.”

“Overall, I'm very saddened and deeply disappointed,” the longtime CNN contributor told Fox News Digital. “The sentiment is shared throughout the organization among those who have been here for a long time and feel a deep personal connection to helping build the organization.”

“This is a time of complete and utter business model overhaul and chaos. It's extremely difficult even under the best of circumstances,” the CNN insider added.

Another CNN insider cited Thompson, who has been on the job for more than a year and has been outspoken about how the company will undergo major changes to survive.

“I'm concerned because the industry is clearly in trouble … I'm sure there will be layoffs,” a second CNN employee told Fox News Digital.

The employee suspected that “more shows will be streamlined and produced out of Atlanta” and that the most affected would be the “expensive” shows produced in New York.

CNN's financial struggles came into focus last week after a jury found the network guilty He defamed the Navy veteran and confirmed that he could demand that he be punished. The legal battle ended in a settlement.

Forensic economist Robert W. Johnson, who was hired by the plaintiff's legal time to evaluate CNN's finances, said CNN was worth $4.4 billion in 2021, but $2.3 billion in 2023, according to tax filings filed by the network. He stated that it fell to billion dollars.

Johnson's data also showed that CNN's revenue fell from $2.2 billion in 2021 to $1.8 billion in 2023. CNN's net income for the same period fell from $0.6 billion in 2021 to $0.4 billion in 2023.
