Serhiy Bohachuk volunteers to fight Sebastian Fundora in March

Serhiy Bohachuk has volunteered to be WBC and WBO junior middleweight champion Sebastian Fundora's next challenger for his next fight in March. Fundora (21-1-1, 13 KOs) saw two of his options for his next fight rejected by the World Boxing Organization last week.

Initially, Fundora planned to defend against Errol Spence (28-1, 22 KOs), but the WBO chose not to sanction the fight. Their reason was Spence hadn't fought in 1.5 years. Has never fought at 154 coming off a loss, and is not ranked in the WBO's top 15.

Fundora's team reportedly wanted to use Joey Spencer (19-1, 11 KOs), but he wasn't even ranked in the top 15, so he wasn't a good matchup.

A dangerous challenge

Former WBC interim 154-lb champion Bohachuk is ranked #8 in the WBO, which would make him perfect for Fundora to use as an opponent for his March 30th fight. The only problem is that Fundora's management might not want to use Bohachuk (25-2, 24 KOs), because he's dangerous.

While Fundora proved he can beat a slugger on Team Czew last year, it's a different story with Bohachuk. He's not someone who loads up on single shots the way Tszyu does. He consistently throws heavy-handed punches, similar to Artur Beterbiev, and he can fight on the inside. He can generate a lot of energy inside. Tszyu could not do it.

If Team Fundora wants to work their way down the WBO's list of top 15 contenders, they may not be happy fighting someone like Sebastian Charles Conwell or Xander Zayas. Those two fights, it would be the same if he fought Bohachuk.

If Fandora thinks she's ready for it, she should fight Bohachuk because he's free and she's volunteering to fight him. That's half the battle.
