TikTok on Friday On Sunday, the social media platform said it would be “dark” without “definitive” assurances from the Biden administration that the ban would not be enforced.
“Today's statements by both the Biden White House and the Department of Justice failed to provide the necessary clarity and certainty to service providers who are integral to protecting TikTok's accessibility to more than 170 million Americans,” TikTok said in a statement. X.
He continued: “Unfortunately, TikTok will be forced to go dark on January 19th unless the Biden Administration makes a definitive statement immediately to satisfy the most critical service providers who have ensured that it will not be implemented.”

The White House announced this week Biden did not plan to apply The ban will take effect on Sunday, he added, adding that it would depend on President-elect Trump, who takes office on Monday.

Also on Friday, TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew thanked Trump for his “commitment to work with us to find a solution that keeps TikTok available in the United States. This is a strong stance against the First Amendment and arbitrary censorship.”
Chew is expected to attend the opening ceremony on Monday.
Trump tried to ban TikTok during his first term as president.
