Ryan Garcia is primed for his comeback fight against Isaac 'Pitbull' Cruz in May, saying he's a Tougher matchup than Haney. In this case, Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs) could be right. Garcia is telling the truth.
Ryan is going to have a much tougher fight than Pitbull Haney, because this guy has a steel chin and can punch. He would not try to win his way to victory as Haney was trying to do.
Cruz took the best shot at Garvonta Davis and went the 12-round distance in a losing effort on December 5, 2021. He was never hit in a fight he lost by unanimous decision.
In Cruz's eighth-round knockout win over Rolando 'Rally' Romero on March 30 last year, he landed plenty of punches that would have knocked out many fighters, including Haney. In Cruz's last fight, he was outboxed by Jose' Rayo Valenzuela, losing a 12-round split decision on August 3rd.
Three losses of the cruise
– Jose 'Rayo' Valenzuela
– Garvonta Davis
– Luis Montano Alvarez
Ryan will fight former WBA light welterweight champion 'Pitbull' Cruz in a doubleheader in New York's Times Square in May. The event will be shown on DAZN PPV. Haney will fight Jose Ramirez on the same card in October in a fight to set up a rematch with Ryan.
Haney was no match for Ryan in their fight on April 20 last year, and the only reason a rematch was planned for October was Kingery's failed PED test. A one-sided fight like Haney-Garcia usually doesn't have a rematch.
Cruz (26-3-1, 18 KOs) has a good chin and will run at Ryan nonstop for the duration of the fight. Pitbull won't try to clinch nonstop or jab like Haney because he's not that type of fighter. He entertains and doesn't bore the crowd.
Haney's two fights against George Kambossos Jr. and his clash against Regis Progress were invisible because of all the holding he did. He has a lot going for him against Ryan, notably after being eliminated in seventh place. Interestingly, referee Harvey penalized Doc Garcia for hitting the break in the seventh but did not address all the holding Haney was doing.
Ryan won the fight by scores of 112-112, 114-110 and 115-109.
I'm bringing an explosive fight to my fight comeback
Pit bulls have always been considered a tough opponent.
