Devin Haney told Teofimo Lopez on X today, “You'll get it” Once he won a May fight against Jose Ramirez in Times Square in Manhattan, New York, and his October rematch with Ryan Garcia.
Haney started it by asking him why he didn't fight Subriel Matias, but he didn't do it nicely. He threw up Teo's name, calling him “TeHOE” when asked why he didn't face the powerful former IBF 140-lb champion Subriel (21-2, 21 KOs), who is no piece of cake for anyone in the division. He will be a nightmare for Haney.
Teofimo gives this excuse for not fighting Matthias:
If Haney can beat Ramirez and Garcia in his next two fights, Teofimo will have a big fight if he is undefeated this year. Lopez hasn't said who he plans to fight next, but he could lose badly if he faces Jaron 'Boots' Ennis.
He's already in big trouble trying to beat 140-pound fighters. He was lucky in fights against Sandor Martin and Jamaine Ortiz. Many people thought Teofimo Lopez fought both.
Haney would be better off focusing on what's in front of him now: former WBC and WBO 140-lb champion Ramirez. This guy could beat Devin and taint his October rematch with Garcia.
That fight will happen anyway, despite the Turki al-Sheikh wanting to stage it in Riyadh. However, if Hany loses to Ramirez, a lot of interest will be generated from the match. I now predict that Haney will go 0-2 in his fights in 2025 and have a career in oblivion.
Devin can still keep plugging away if he gets with promoter Eddie Hearn, who can put him in a Joshua-type four-fight rebuild. Factor glasses renew him. Let's face it: Haney wasn't all that good to begin with, but he did well as he melted down for smaller fights at 135 and initially fought the right guy, Regis Progress, when he moved to 140.
You'll get it.. once I beat Ramirez and Ryan you'll be next.. but you already knew you were just chasing. https://t.co/2QXFiZSg8h
