Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has reportedly pushed the blame for Facebook parent company Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) on a former longtime executive at the tech giant.
The The New York Times reported on this As Zuckerberg moved to root out DEI programs at Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Instagram and Threads, he met with President-elect Trump's top aide, Stephen Miller.
In that meeting, Zuckerberg blamed Sheryl SandbergMeta's former chief operating officer, who left the company in 2022 for an inclusivity initiative that seeks to encourage employees to express themselves in the workplace, reports the Times.
According to the report, Zuckerberg told Miller that he was already considering changes to Meta's policies and did not plan to hinder the incoming administration's efforts to restore the DEI culture in corporate America.

Sandberg is best known as the author of Lean: Women, Jobs, and the Desire for Leadership, which aims to discuss the lack of women in corporate and political leadership roles to help women achieve their career goals. She also founded and serves as chair of the board of Lean In, a non-profit organization that fights gender inequality in the workplace.

Last week, Zuckerberg's changes took effect when Meta announced that the company would be shutting down its operations corporate DEI programs.

“The landscape of law and policy surrounding diversity, equity and inclusion efforts is changing,” Meta Vice President of Human Resources Janelle Gale said in a memo to employees.
Gale's memo was first reported by Axios, and Meta confirmed the report in response to a request from FOX Business.
The letter stated that the final decisions Supreme Court It had the effect of “signaling a change in the way the courts approach DEI” that contributed to the change.

Meta's new CEO of global affairs, Joel Kaplan, spoke to Fox News Digital's Brooke Singman about the changes, saying, “It's ultimately about doing what's best for our company and making sure we're serving everyone and building teams with the most talented people. “

“That means valuing people as individuals and recruiting people from a range of candidate pools, but never making hiring decisions based on protected characteristics like race or gender,” Kaplan said.
