Republican Senate aide Olivia Trusty was named commissioner Federal Communications Commission (FCC)President-elect Trump announced on Thursday afternoon that Truth Social has secured a Republican majority within the agency.
Trusty currently serves as policy director for the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee, where “he fights tirelessly to grow the economy, fuel innovation and reignite the American dream,” Trump wrote in the post.
There will be a 2-2 split between the FCC Democrats and Republicans Until confirmed by the Senate.
“Olivia will work with our incredible new FCC Chairman, Brendan Carr, to cut regulations at a record pace, protect Free Speech, and ensure every American has access to affordable and fast internet,” Trump wrote.
Carr was originally appointed to the commission in 2017 during Trump's first term and continued to work at the agency under President Biden, Fox News Digital previously reported.
Trustee Sen. Roger Wicker, R-Miss. and worked on staff for Rep. Bob Latta, R-Ohio.
He served on the House Energy and Commerce Committee, focusing on manufacturing and trade, as well as digital commerce and consumer protection.
