Blue Origin's new rocket takes off on its first flight

The Blue Origin of Jeff Bezos The New Glenn rocket successfully lifted off from Florida on Thursday morning after Wednesday's first launch attempt was cleared.

This flight is Bezos' attempt to take a private flight space race. A successful launch could open up competition for Elon Musk's SpaceX.

New Glenn began its first ascent to the stars Thursday morning, and Blue Origin said the main goal of the first flight was simply to get into orbit.
