Malibu residents come together as a community to provide resources to those in need unprecedented forest firesbut one California family fears they may not be able to find a place to live after their home was destroyed in the Palisades fire.
Marlin Rodriguez and her husband had just 30 minutes to catch their 5-year-old son and 11-month-old daughter before Malibu. his residence caught fire.
“My husband said wake up… We have to go, the fire is on the other side of the hill. I quickly got up and just grabbed our documents and grabbed my 11-month-old baby and my five-year-old son and we got right in the car,” Rodriguez told FOX Business.

Rodriguez said it is now too dangerous to return to the site of their mobile home. And there is nothing left. Only the metal frame remains. Like many, they're staying at an Airbnb but aren't sure where they'll go after Friday.
“Maybe we'll go to a shelter. Before we went to Airbnb, we were at the Ritchie Valens Rec Center. It's a shelter that the Red Cross put up there,” he said.

The Rodriguez family makes the best of their situation. The community created an area for the stage with the help of volunteers families in need to get the needs.
According to Rodriguez, “We're here for diapers. We need diapers. That's why we're here. We've had some people come to our Airbnb place and drop off clothes for the kids.”
She says her son is still trying to figure out what happened and is doing her best to comfort him and explain that they can start over.

“A lot of hugs. He's having a hard time. He's trying to understand. But it really hurts. I just tell him, 'Well, you know what? We are together. You know, we're in this together and things will get better,” he said. “And we just have to start from the bottom, but we're in this together. We have to thank God for that, and we have to thank God for everyone who's trying to bless us.”
