Tyson Fury announced a retirement on Instagram today, informing his followers that he is ending his 16-year professional career. It was a predictably melodramatic move from the Gypsy King after his second loss to Oleksandr Usyk on December 21st. I predict this childish move. Man, I can read that guy like a book.
Wrath has piled up the money with his massive $160 million fortune. So, if he's serious and doesn't do it to lure Turki Al-Sheikh into paying $100M+ for his next fight, he's done well with his career.
With limited talent, Fury used his win over a battered 39-year-old Wladimir Klitschko in 2015 and parlayed that win into a massive fortune. What a rush.
I wonder why Fury didn't start shaking during his post retirement. That would have been a classic. I still can't forget how he was on the verge of tears after disqualifying 'Big' John McDermott by a controversial decision in their first fight.
If this is a real retirement and not a fake, I'd say good riddance and don't let you hit the door on your way out, Fury. It's nice to get rid of some of the weaker fighters who have been given a high spot by the naive chasers who follow him.
analogous Fagan from Oliver TwistFury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) looked absolutely terrifying in his most recent loss to Usyk. He couldn't do anything in that fight and fell behind. All the instructions given to him by his benevolent trainer, Sugarhill Steward, were completely ignored as he could not follow any of them. Fury was never one to follow instructions or adapt during fights. He's not much for listening.
“I would like to announce my retirement from boxing. It has been a blast. I loved every minute of it…see you on the other side,” said Tyson Fury Instagram In announcing his retirement today.
