Zhilei Zhang says a fight between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua “doesn't mean a lot” at this point in their careers. It's like, who cares? These guys are fighting for cash in meaningless fights. If Al-Sheikh the Turk wants to get tough, he'll first step over a bed of hot coals and force Fury and Joshua to earn their dough by facing Martin Bakol.
Zhang notes that the two British heavyweights talked about fighting years ago when they both won world titles, but now that they don't, they're still talking. He sees Joshua-Fury as a fight that will only prove who is one of the best heavyweights in the UK, not the best.
In order to prove who is the best British heavyweight for the Joshua vs. Fury fight, they must defeat Daniel Dubois, Moses Itauma and Fabio Wardley.
It is doubtful that anyone can defeat these three young lions. Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs) has already failed in his fight against Dubois, getting knocked out in the fifth round in front of 90,000 fans at London's Wembley Stadium on September 21st. Not surprisingly, Fury has no intention of mixing it up with DuBois. He knows his limitations.
The whole motive behind Fury fighting Joshua is for the cash. That's it – just flour. No one needs extra money, but they won't turn it down.
“Usik is absolutely undisputed, and I think he gave a much better performance than in the first fight. I thought it was one sided. I think he is the king of the heavyweight division,” said Zhilei Zhang Second outSpeaking of Oleksandr Usyk's win over Tyson Fury last week.
“I don't think the fight means much in terms of the belt and the championship because that fight has been talked about for years,” Zhang said of the fight between Fury and Anthony Joshua. “When those two had the belts, there was talk. Now, none of them have the belt and they're still talking about it.
“I think it's a good way to see who is one of the best heavyweights in the UK, but other than that, I don't see any point in that fight without the blaster,” Zhang said.
Not that both Fury and Joshua are washed up at this stage of their careers. They just weren't as good as their fans thought they were. None of them lost tough fighters like Martin Bacaule or Daniel Dubois in their careers.
AJ and Gypsy King took advantage of the weak opposition around and were carefully matched by their promoters.
It would be nice if Fury and Joshua beat someone first before they meet in their 'Battle of Britain' match in 2025, but they probably won't bother. Their confidence level must be at an all-time low and they don't want to take the chance of losing to anyone else. Joshua already had a full pack of rebuilding fights and that didn't help. Fury hasn't beaten a talented fighter in years.
