Vice President JD Vance pressed on when food prices will drop: 'Which prices are going down?'
Vice President JD Vance stressed that food prices will fall during an interview with CBS's Margaret Brennan on Sunday.
Vice President JD Vance pressed on grocery prices during an interview on CBS' “Face the Nation” on Sunday, arguing that some of President Donald Trump's first steps in office would help lower prices for Americans.
“No, Margaret, prices are going to come down, but it's going to take some time, right? The president has been president for five days. I think he's done more in those five days than Joe. Biden did in four years,” Vance said. Brennan pressed him on which of several executive orders Trump signed in his first week related to lowering grocery prices. “All the things we do with energy in the United States to explore more energy resources, to develop more energy resources.”
Some Democrats have mocked Trump over food prices since taking office. including Rep. Eric Swalwell, “I don't care if Donald Trump wants to buy Greenland. I just want to know what he's going to do to lower food prices,” D-Calif., who posted on X's page in early January, said.
“Donald Trump has already taken a number of executive actions that will lower energy prices, and I believe that means consumers will see lower prices at the pump and at the grocery store,” Vance said, “but it's going to be a step. Rome wasn't built in a day.”

Brennan asked Vance when voters would start to see differences in the products they “touch and feel” in grocery stores, and Vance singled out pork mentioned on the campaign trail.
“Okay, but Margaret, how does bacon get to the grocery store? It's in diesel trucks. If diesel is too expensive, pork will become more expensive. How do we raise pork? Our farmers need energy to produce it, so we need energy. if we lower our prices, we'll see lower prices for consumers, and that's what we're trying to fight for,” Vance responded.
The vice president also said during the interview that Big Tech was still aware Despite Trump's inauguration donations.

Brennan said in an interview that most executive orders are not aimed at the economy, but Vance pushed back.
“We've taken over 200 executive actions — some executive orders, other executive actions. Again, this is in less than a week, and many of them are focused on the economy, attracting investment to our country and lowering energy prices. We also , restoring public safety, ending the arming of the Justice Department, doing something with this incredible mandate that the American people gave him, He's not sitting in the Oval Office doing business for the American people and I think they will see very good results from it, he said.
