Garcia vs. Raleigh, Haney vs. Ramirez, Bakole vs. Azagba: Triple-header in Times Square

Turki Al-Sheikh has just announced that Ryan Garcia will fight former WBA light welterweight champion Rolando 'Rolly' Romero, Devin Haney will face Jose Ramirez and Martin Bakol will fight Ife Azgba on the same card in May. It is expected to be shown on PPV from Times Square in New York.

Triple-header fights

  • Ryan Garcia vs. Rolando Romero
  • Devin Haney vs. Jose Ramirez
  • Martin Bakol vs Efe Ajagba

Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) has been given a tough fight, against former WBA and WBO light welterweight champion Jose Ramirez (29-2, 18 KOs). I wonder if it was Bill Haney's bright idea to match Devin against this guy. He may live to regret this fight.

Rolly Romero (16-2, 13 KOs) is a surprise opponent for Ryan as Isaac 'Pitbull' Cruz was the name he was rumored to be fighting. Salvador Rodriguez of ESPN Knockout reported that “no ffinancial agreement” Isaac Cruz can be contacted at; Hence, Rowley was appointed as Ryan Garcia's opponent.

Cruz knocked out Raleigh in the eighth round on March 30 last year in a non-title match. As for Ryan's fight with Raleigh, it suggests he doesn't want to risk losing his long 13-month layoff.

“Unfortunately there was no financial deal for the 'Pitbull' cruise. Rolly Romero stepped in. The promotion for the fight in May is going to be good. We are waiting for details on Times Square or the arena where the fight will take place… 🥊🥊🥊” said Salvador Rodriguez XExplains why Isaac Cruz was not used as Ryan Garcia's opponent.

It was a fight fans would get excited about, but there was too much at stake for Garcia because Cruz could actually fight. Rawley has two of his last four fights and some believe he would have lost a third had it not been for a freak stoppage in his clash against Ismael Barroso in May 2023.

It was there that referee Raleigh stopped Blue's fight after throwing a punch, all of which hit the air. Then he raised Raleigh's hand in the air, giving him the knockout victory, leaving Barroso standing there like, 'What's going on here.' That was so weird. The referee looked like he had flown in on a flying saucer from a distant world, watching the fight, saying, 'Oh, let me stop.'

Interestingly, Barroso was not granted a rematch, which makes Rawley look even worse. There should have been one, because it was extremely bad. You had to feel sorry for Barroso because he's not young, and it was sad to see him treated like that.
