Teofimo Lopez has signed a multi-year advisory agreement with Keith Connolly and Mike Borao. WBO light welterweight champion Teofimo (21-1, 13 KOs) says he's going to be “Fighting the Best” And this year will be the “big fight”.

If the new mentors can provide Teofimo with the talent he lacks, his career will be in great shape by the end of 2025. However, this seems unlikely. This year could be the worst of Lopez's career and he will be at the end of his rope after February 2026.

Schedule high-risk fights

It's great that Teofimo signed a multi-year deal, but he says those people can't keep his career afloat if he wants to “fight the best.” He doesn't seem to be able to win his two fights in 2025 and he could lose in February 2025 as well.

Lopez, 27, will have three make-or-break fights that could sink his career entirely. He is expected to fight the IBF light welterweight champion Richardson Hitchins A two-belt unification in April and then moved up to 147 to challenge the IBF welterweight champion. Jaron 'Boots' Ennis In October

If Tio loses to Ennis, he will face the loser of a Devin Haney vs. Ryan Garcia rematch in February 2026. This will be a loser's bracket fight. A loss to Te'o in that fight would finish him at 0-3, and whoever manages him, it's hard to see him coming back to reinvest himself.

Lopez was floated around the Ring Awards event in London on Jan. 11, carrying herself like a superstar, but her career isn't looking good since 2021 after a terrible performance. West recently had the chance to fight Subriel Matias at the PPV. Coast, however, refused. Some fans have seen the case that Teofimo knew he was going to lose, so he chose to change the fight.
