Vaccaro, who owns a neighboring property, told the Nantucket Current that he was able to “use both houses for a week with my family and kids, which was a priceless experience, so it was worth it in the end.”
“Unfortunately, the city wanted to demolish the house for safety reasons, and even though the house is still structurally sound, we complied with the city's request,” he said.

Last year, the Nantucket Current reported that the previous owners sold the house to Vaccaro for just $200,000 after receiving an “unseen call” from him. Property records reviewed Friday showed it was assessed at about $1.3 million.
They weren't for sale before his offer because they said they “didn't want to sell to somebody when you know a storm could take it out next week.”
Vaccaro said in the statement He told FOX Business in early July of last year, not long after the house changed hands, that he “had no illusions that the house would stay there for more than a year and bought it believing it would stay afloat until the spring of 2025.”
