ESPN reports that Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney have agreed to suspend their lawsuits for 90 days. They agreed to drop it.
The two fighters have reached an agreement to fight later this year, and barring legal disputes, the fight will be smooth sailing.
Settlement allows the case to be settled, but it needs to be finalized. After this is finalised, the case will be dismissed. Ryan said it was a stipulation for him to negotiate a rematch with Haney.
Turki Al-Sheikh wants this rematch. Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) filed a lawsuit after testing positive for the banned substance, Ostarine, following his April 20 win over Devin.
Garcia to take the interim fight
Ryan revealed today that he's got a mystery opponent for his next fight, and he “can't wait” for fans to find out who it is. Not that honey. There isn't a high level of interest in a second fight between them after how Ryan obliterated him last April.
He won't fight him anymore unless he drops his case. This makes sense for Haney because he will likely get more money from the lawsuit than he would from fighting Ryan. Without a rematch, Haney would be stuck fighting other fighters for less money and a lot of risk.
Haney isn't a big puncher, and his career outlook isn't promising at 140 or 147. He initially moved up to light welterweight, again an old Regis Progress, but it will still be difficult for him to fight other fighters. Their main and can punch.
So he must get the rematch with Ryan. Even if his career collapses immediately, he'll have that big payday to live on for the rest of his life.
Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia jointly asked the court on Wednesday to suspend proceedings surrounding the case against Garcia for 90 days due to a temporary settlement, according to a legal document obtained by ESPN.
This development comes as Hani and Garcia are closing in on a deal…
