David Morrell says WBC interim light heavyweight champion David Benavidez is one “RoboCop” Those who can't dance and have “nothing” for him in their upcoming fight on February 1st at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Morel (11-0, 9 KOs) sees Benavidez (29-0, 24 KOs) as a brute, robotic fighter who can't move and couldn't knock out Caleb Plant in their fight last year. He seems to have no problem neutralizing his offense, which requires his opponent to be still so he can stand up and throw punches in the bunch.

Morel's Mission

It will be interesting to see if Benavidez can handle the power of the 26-year-old Morel in this fight as Ronald Gavril knocked him out in the 12th round of their first fight in 2017. Many boxing fans felt that Bebaufvidez had lost that fight, so a rematch took place. Benavidez also had problems in his last fight against Aleksandar Govozdic.

“I've never fought Plant before, but I don't think Plant had too much power for Benavidez. He is a very big man. He is stronger. So, if you have good legs, you train hard, you have strength and everything, Benavidez has nothing for you now.

“I can dance. I have to move. Benavidez can't dance. It is,” Morrell said.

Benvidez isn't what he was in the past when he was campaigning against younger, older fighters at 168. He now fights at 175 and is forced to face high-level opposition. So far, Benavidez has not looked good in this new weight class, and has a good chance of losing to Morel by knockout on February 1st.

There is a lot on the line for both fighters in this clash. The winner will fight for the undisputed light heavyweight championship against either Artur Beterbiev or Dmitry Bivol. The loser will start over and go back to the back of the line.

With the hype and huge push that PBC has put behind Benavidez all these years, they will bring him back quickly and, if possible, try to set up a rematch with Morrell.
