Gardners Candies is recalling some Cappuccino Meltaway Bars because there is no tree nut disclaimer on their packaging.
The recalled 1.25-ounce packages of the candy “may contain undeclared tree nuts,” the Pennsylvania-based company's announcement, released Friday by the FDA, said.
A recall Gardners Candies said in a notice “after it was discovered that a product containing tree nuts was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of tree nuts.”
The lot number of the recalled Cappuccino Meltaway Bars is 082725 and the expiration date is 08/27/25.

Gardners Candies said the recalled products are part of Meltaway Treat Boxes, which contain various flavors with lot numbers 101625 or 112525.
The notice states that people with allergies or severe sensitivity to tree nuts “are at risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction” if they eat the recalled Cappuccino Meltaway Bars.
Tree nut allergy is among the ” the most common food allergy in both children and adults” according to organization Food Allergy Research and Education.
The affected Gardners Candies product has not caused any illness to date, the recall notice said.

Gardners Candies said consumers who purchased the recalled Cappuccino Meltaway or Meltaway Treat Boxes should contact them for a replacement.
The recall notice says they were sold in stores nationwide and by mail starting in September.
The company attributed the problem to a “temporary failure in the company's manufacturing and packaging processes,” the FDA said. According to the notice, the company has stopped production of Cappuccino Meltaway Bars “until it is certain that the problem has been corrected.”
